No API key, no CLI — just the data export OpenAI already gives you.
Get your export
- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Data controls → Export data and confirm.
- OpenAI emails you a download link (valid for 24 hours). Download the ZIP.
- Go to centrail.org/greenai/import, pick ChatGPT, and drop the ZIP in.
What happens to the file
The ZIP is read in your browser. We open only conversations.json — never
your images or attachments — and turn it into daily token estimates per model.
Your conversations never leave your machine; only numbers like
"2026-05-04 · gpt-4o · 1,204 tokens" are saved to your account.
What you get
An estimated energy / water / CO₂ footprint in the Chat apps · estimated section of your GreenAI dashboard, and a shareable Measured pledge card. ChatGPT exports include which model answered each message, so estimates are model-aware. See the methodology for every assumption.
Re-importing
Exports contain your full history, so a new import replaces the old one. Import your latest export whenever you want fresher numbers. You can remove imported data any time from the dashboard section.
Want more accurate numbers? Chat exports give estimated numbers. If you use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Codex), the CLI measures your exact tokens — that's Verified. If your team uses the API, org connect is coming.
